MCI.TechVentures 1.0 sub-fund (created within MCI.PrivateVentures FIZ)

The sub-fund focuses on investments in growth-stage companies in the following sectors: web and telecommunications services, mobile services and technologies (B2C), digital media and e-commerce, wireless technologies, software and IT, not listed on the regular market, with a high expected rate of return and lower risk than early stage businesses. The investments are carried out in CEE countries, Western Europe, Turkey and Russia.

Tomasz Czechowicz

Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer, Chief Executive Officer

Holder of M.Sc. in Enterprise Management from the Wrocław School of Economics. He also completed a post-graduate management course at the Warsaw School of Economics and obtained the Master of Business Administration title from the University of Minnesota.

  • Entrepreneur since 1985. For the past 20 years, Venture Capital/Private Equity investor, founder and Group Managing Partner @ MCI Capital – one of the leading European private equity groups with focus on technology and digitalization. In 1990-1998 Co-founder and CEO of JTT Computer SA – leading CE computer manufacturer with USD 100M+ revenue.
  • Selected as one of Top-20 best Polish managers in 2015 by Bloomberg business week. Guest speaker at many PE/VC conferences, including NOAH. Supervisory board member and advisory board member of many of MCI funds portfolio companies across Europe. In 2001 the World Economic Forum awarded Tomasz Czechowicz with the title of Global Leader for Tomorrow for his exceptional feeling for the market, professionalism, vision and business efficacy. In 2000 one of the TOP-10 most influential people in the European Internet by Business Week.

Tomasz Danis

Partner, Internet Ventures Fund Manager and MCI.TechVenuters co-manager

  • He performs the function of Partner; manages the fund Internet Ventures FIZ and co-manages MCI.TechVentures 1.0
  • He worked for LinkedIn in California, where he was responsible for the creation of the competition strategy on the European market.
  • From 2002 to 2005 and from 2007 to 2012, he was employed at McKinsey & Company, where, as Engagement Manager, he was in charge of the implementation of strategic and investment projects (including M&A) for top European companies focused on telecommunications and media, but also for leading power industry, fuel sector, FMCG and Private Equity players.
  • In 2012, he took the function of Managing Director at Rocket Internet CEE, the world’s largest e-commerce project incubator, where he was responsible for the identification of new investments, raising capital, establishing new start-ups and development of Rocket’s portfolio of growth-stage companies.

Sylwester Janik

  • Sylwester has 20 years of experience in venture capital investments, strategic management and new business development. During his 7 years with MCI Capital Group, he completed a number of investment projects and exits, as well as successful fundraising of new fund managed by MCI (Internet Ventures Fund).
  • Sylwester holds an MBA in Strategic Management of Technology and e-Business from Cass Business School in London, UK, and a Master degree in Economics from Gdańsk University, Poland.
